The first weekend of the Palm & Pyranha Park Jam saw the team visiting Lee Valley, Northampton Active and Cardiff International Whitewater. Here’s a quick wrap up of what went down at the first three events.

Lee Valley

Both the Olympic and Legacy courses were pumping on Friday night. The Olympic course is full of downriver freestyle potential. Huge kick flips were had by the first drop, followed by macho moves and finishing with some crazy ends in the big, bottom drop.

After paddling the Olympic course, we moved onto the Legacy course which was at maximum kayaker capacity all evening. New modifications to the Legacy course meant that there were some new holes and waves that had plenty of depth to them and were super friendly. It was awesome to see so many groms making the most of the white water course.

Northampton Active

Unfortunately, we had too much rain and the river quality wasn’t good enough for the course to be open. Instead, we did a series of talks from me, Bren, Joe and Sam and some games provided by the Pyranha team. We still had a really great turnout and handed out plenty of prizes at the end.

Cardiff International White Water

We had a huge day at Cardiff. The Palm team were treated to a morning Flowrider session before kayaking on every water level all day.

Similar to Lee Valley, Cardiff is also full of downriver freestyle potential and fun waves to surf. The team had a great time showing the groms the splat spots in their Dagger Novas. There were so many small crews of friends paddling together and pushing each other to find new, fun innovative moves on the course, which was really cool to see.

The most amount of fun was had surfing the bottom wave, learning to loop off the pontoon with Bren’s help and a huge mass start boater X at the end of the day. All wrapped up with Bren’s talk, video and many prizes.
