Another year of celebrating the River Guru Extreme Race on the River Ara in the village of Torla Ordesa. The kayak competition is one of the most important ones in the Pyrenees. This year we’ve gathered seventy lovers of kayaking in a wonderful environment.

The competition was held on Saturday with the qualifying race PRO in the rapid ‘Chicane’. It was a very fun and fast section with a very technical part where there are always surprises, especially when the water level this high, like this year.

The rankings were very tight, out of the eighteen participants in the PRO category is only ranked 10, this year I got the best mark of the classifications of followed by the Frenchman Eric Deguill, Ander de Miguel and Iker Carreto. In the afternoon, we moved to the section of the Ramps of Bujaruelo section, the most difficult of the Rio Ara, with lots of ramps which are fast and very nice. At the end of the competition and feeling good on the water, we decided to head downstream on a more popular stretch and make a downhill popular across the stretch, to make time for dinner and the awards ceremony.

After an excellent dinner, we reported the results of the Amateur and Pro categories. Eric Deguill was proclaimed champion of the RG Extrem. Iker Carreto came 3rd classified with a time of 1’37’, Ander de Miguel in the second position with a time of 1’35’ and I came first in the IX edition with a time of 1’32’.

It is, without a doubt, one of the best events of Kayaking in the Pyrenees, if you have never kayaked in this area of the Pyrenees I recommend it a lot – for the landscape, the people and the rivers!
